NWS Cheyenne: Medium-to-High Risk for 2-Inch Hail, 70 MPH Winds This Afternoon
Severe thunderstorms are expected to fire up across southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.
The NWS says all types of severe weather are possible including 2-inch hail, 70 mph winds, a few tornadoes and flash flooding.
Weather Message of the Day:
- Thunderstorms are expected along/east of I-25 in southeast WY and the western NE Panhandle this afternoon.
- Severe thunderstorms are possible, especially in the Nebraska Panhandle.
- All types of severe weather are possible.
- Storm threat eases west to east by early evening.
- Medium-to-high risk for hail. Severe hail up to golf ball size in southeast Wyoming and the western Nebraska Panhandle.
- Medium-to-high risk for damaging downburst winds up to 70 MPH.
- Low risk for tornadoes mainly central to southern Nebraska Panhandle.

Meanwhile, critical fire weather conditions are expected across Converse County and the north Laramie Range today.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect from noon to 8 p.m.
High fire danger is expected this afternoon and evening across portions of southeast Wyoming. This includes the towns of Douglas and Lusk. Minimum relative humidity will range from 8 to 15 percent with west to northwest winds at 15 to 20 with higher gusts to 35 mph. Please avoid any outdoor burning in these areas.
