Wyoming Is Famous, We Made It On The New U.S. Stamps
The United States Postal Service (USPS) just released a new set of stamps. The Snake River near the Teton Mountains is on one of the new stamps, according to Powell Tribune.
The new set of stamps are to celebrate America's wild and scenic rivers. The rivers that were chosen have great fishing and wildlife in the area, great geology, plenty of recreation, and cultural/historical significance.
The Snake River stamp is gorgeous and captures what the Cowboy State is all about: mother nature. The stamp is of the river, with a sunset in the background coming down over the Grand Teton Mountains. The stamp is of an actual photo that was taken by Tim Palmer, a naturalist photographer. Another one of Tim's photos was of the Flathead River in Montana was used as well for the stamp set.
Montana has two rivers in the set of new stamps. The other states that had rivers featured are Alaska, California, Idaho, Nebraska, Washington, Oregon, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
“Part of America’s rich heritage is the natural beauty of America’s rivers and the many habitats that support wildlife,” Joe Corbett, U.S. Postal Service chief financial officer, and executive vice president told Powell Tribune. “When Americans use the stamps either to mail letters and packages or to add them to collections, they will be reminded of our cherished wild and scenic rivers.”
