The Scottish-Irish Highland Festival is only a short drive from the Wyoming border, but it will take you a world away.

Many will go for the haggis, but maybe you’ll be tempted to try the other delights of The Scottish-Irish Highland Festival this weekend. Oh, yes, that was sarcasm on the “haggis.” Though, if you’ve ever tried it, you either didn’t know what it was or just enjoyed it with full knowledge and bravado! For those who don’t know check the ingredients of haggis. Oh, and I've never met anyone who didn't like Scotch Eggs.

The 41st annual Scottish-Irish Highland Festival keeps growing every year and this year the event kicks off on Thursday evening with pipe bands marching through the streets of Estes Park, Colorado. But the events that every wants to experience run Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

I like the jousting and piping competitions the most, but you should see the strong man competitions along with rest of the highland games. The soundtrack for the weekend will feature Celtic and rock bands to serenade your stroll through the events and vendors.

Festival Field Open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday, & Sunday Sept. 8 - 10, 2017
