In the above photo, the poor kid with the jacket over his totally awesome skeleton suit may not need any hoodie this year on Cheyenne trick or treat night.

The Coldest Halloween on record in Cheyenne dropped to -1 in 1991. We don't have to worry about that this year. To find the warmest Halloween we have to go all the way back to 1887 when we reached 74.

I remember that day. My old friend, Francis Warren, had been mayor of Cheyenne for a couple of years, and got me a construction job helping build the new Cheyenne Depot. Man that sandstone was heavy, but I was young and indestructible then. I told my co-worker, “These easterners fresh off the train probably think it’s this warm here every Halloween.”

Of course that’s not true, it’s just a story the ghost of my great grandfather told me just last night. Annnyway.

We won’t reach 74 on Monday but 62 that afternoon is a little above the average high on October 31, which is around 53-54. By trick or treat time we will likely still be in the mid to upper 50s.

How about the weekend highs in the upper 60s. Whatever evening your neighborhood is trick or treating, enjoy.
