Cheyenne officially got about five inches of snow with a storm that hit the area late Thursday afternoon, according to a Cheyenne-based meteorologist Don Day Jr.

Day, founder and President of Dayweather Inc., gave Townsquare Media this statement on the storm:

"Officially 5 inches, some areas eastern Cheyenne 6-7”, more precipitation fell yesterday than during all of October.39”

But while the storm may have brought some much-needed precipitation to the area, Day says that by itself it's not going to do much to alleviate the drought situation:

''this storm not much, although snowpack in the west going to be off to a good start by end of next week."
