Cheyenne Postal Service Is Doing Their Annual Food Drive
Saturday, May 11th the United States Postal Service (USPS) kicks off their 27th annual nationwide Letter Carriers Food Drive.
All day on May 11th, while the postal workers are on their route, they will deliver your mail and collect the non-perishable food items you donate. All you have to do is leave the bag of food by your mailbox and the mail carrier will take it. If you live in an apartment complex and you have a mailbox unit for all the apartments, just leave the bag down there and they will get it. That also goes for businesses with a mailbox unit. If you go grocery shopping on May 11th and you pick up items for the food drive, you can drop it off at the post office. There will be a box in the lobby for the items.
Every year there is a friendly competition between the postal workers in Casper and Cheyenne to see who can collect the most food. Last year Cheyenne won with 36,000 lbs of food donated. Let's not only beat Casper once again but let's make a goal to raise at least 40,000 lbs of food.
This is a national food drive, but the food donated in Cheyenne stays here in Cheyenne and goes to local food banks.
