Cheyenne Had Its 5th Hottest Day Ever in July
July 2022 will go down in the history books as a hot and dry one in southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, Scottsbluff and Cheyenne recorded their fourth and fifth hottest days of all time on July 18, topping out at a stifling 108 and 99 degrees, respectively.

While Cheyenne did see more precipitation than it did in June, it was still 0.30 inches below normal for July, continuing the dry streak from the spring.
Unfortunately, it was even drier in Scottsbluff, which only recorded 1.03 inches of precipitation, 0.63 inches below normal for the month.
July 2022 Climate Summary for Cheyenne Wyoming: July 2022 will be remembered as a hot and dry month across our area. While we received more precipitation than we did in June, it was still 0.30 inches below normal for July. Here are a few notable facts about last month: Cheyenne saw the 5th warmest day of all-time in Cheyenne on July 18th when we hit 99 degrees F. It was still pretty dry in Cheyenne in July, continuing the dry streak from the spring. However, we did have thunder in Cheyenne 15 out of the 31 days in July.
July 2022 Climate Summary for Scottsbluff Nebraska: Scottsbluff had a similar story to Cheyenne, hot, dry, and windy! Unfortunately, it was even drier in Scottsbluff than in Cheyenne and they only recorded thunder on 9 days. The max wind recorded on July 4th was due to a severe thunderstorm that passed through Scottsbluff that evening.
