While the overall chances for severe weather in southeast Wyoming today [July 3] are relatively low, there is a risk for some severe thunderstorms and small hail in southeast Wyoming and especially the Nebraska Panhandle.

That's according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service.

The agency posted this statement on its website:

A Marginal to Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms exists this afternoon across portions of the Nebraska panhandle with a general thunderstorm risk everywhere else. Thunderstorms are expected to develop across southeastern Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle this afternoon into evening hours. Main threats associated with these storms will be strong downburst winds to 60 mph, lightning, and hail up to 1.5 inches.
