Laramie County Sheriff candidate Brian Kozak appeared on the “Weekend in Wyoming” program on AM 650 KGAB on Saturday to make his case for being the next sheriff and discuss some of the issues in the race and local crime in general.

Kozak, who is a Republican, is one of three Republicans and one independent to throw his hat in the ring for sheriff of Laramie County as of Friday evening. The others so far are Republicans Captain Don Hollingshead and Boyd Wrede and independent candidate Jeff Barnes.

Hollingshead is scheduled to appear on the program on June 4 at noon. As this is written, we have also reached out to the Wrede and Barnes campaigns for interviews. However, we have not yet finalized the times for those to air.

If other candidates file for the office by the deadline at 5 p.m. on Friday, they will, of course, be offered air time on the program as well.

Kozak served as Cheyenne’s Police Chief for over a decade before incoming Mayor Patrick Collins decided not to retain him in that position in 2020.

He’s made local property crime, auto thefts, and what he says is poor morale in the sheriff’s office some of the central issues in his campaign. You can hear what he had to say on those topics and more in the interview:
