I have spent my entire adult life working with music. In fact, it started when I was 16.  I've been a DJ both on the radio and with my own company.

I have spent 22 years DJ'ing for nightclubs, corporate events, and lots and lots of weddings.

One of the big questions is always "What should our first dance song be?" I've seen big choreographed first dances and I've seen brides and grooms trip over each others feet.

However, over the past 25 years as a DJ, the majority of people pick the same songs.  Even between age groups the song selection doesnt change much. You've just got those wedding "staples." Especially when it comes to first dance's.
