Wyoming’s General Fund Revenues Ahead of Forecast But Slowing

Wyoming’s General Fund received an additional $84.3 million in March to reach $756.5 million. Jim Robinson, Senior Economist with the State’s Economic Analysis Division, says as a result, fiscal year-to-date General Fund revenues exceeded projections by $45.2 million or 4.4 percent.
Sales and use tax collections added $36.4 million in March raising its total to $326.0 million for the year, $6.2 million ahead of projections. Investment income was leading its forecast by $29.3 million while severance tax collections were ahead by $9.3 million.
Robinson says the monthly sales and use tax revenues that the state receives in March, April, and May historically are the lowest of the year.
