The Wyoming House of Representatives on Thursday voted not to agree to changes the Senate made in a bill to increase car registration fees in the state. The bill would only impact the state portion of those fees.

The Senate had attached amendments to House Bill 218 for a 15  percent tax for out of state commercial vehicles.

In floor debate Thursday afternoon, several representatives argued the proposed Senate increases were too much and would place an undue burden on commercial trucks and the trucking industry in general. The vote against concurrence was 43-15 with two excused.

The bill will now go to a conference committee, but with the legislature expected to wrap up the 2017 session on Friday, March 3, the committee will have to work quickly to put together a bill that both houses can agree to before the session ends.
