There’s More To Wyoming Then Just Yellowstone

Wyoming is synonymous for Yellowstone National Park, but Wyoming has way more to offer according to The Know Outdoors.

Thermopolis for instance not only has some of the best whitewater rafting in the state on the Wind River, but it also has the world's largest mineral hot springs.  Thermopolis also has Wyoming Dinosaur Center, it is a mini museum and dig site.  They have discovered over 20,000 bones and fossils.

Not too far down the road from Thermopolis is Legend Rock Petroglyph Site.  Guests are able to walk the cliffs and experience the sacred ground of Native Americans and their drawings dating back thousands of years, some of the paintings date back to 11,000 years.

Cody, Wyoming or should we call it "the town that Buffalo Bill Built."  Yes, Yellowstone is just down the street, no need when you have one of the best KOA's in the country to stay at.  The 4th if July holiday is more than just a day in Cody, it's a week's worth of events. They got parades, rodeos, food, fairs and museums with great western history.  It is suggested that everyone takes the one hour Cody Trolley Tour.

With a 13,000 foot peak, Bighorn National Forest isn't really a place you can just look the other way on. You will be able to see wild horses, walk along the scenic river and check out vista point, which some compare tot he Grand Canyon.  Once you are there, the Medicine Mountain National Historic Landmark is a must see.  It is a mysterious circle that is on sacred grounds.

Head to Casper, Wyoming for Minor League Baseball.  Sports isn't your thing, take a tour of the Oregon Trail and its route as it came through Wyoming.  Art lovers rejoice, there Dali and Van Gogh paintings in the Nic Museum.  If you would like to taste some of Wyoming's own vodka, take a tour of Backwoods Distilling co.

We can't forget about the capital city, Cheyenne, Wyoming.  You can start by taking a ride on the Street Railway Trolley, as it navigates through the streets of Cheyenne telling of its amazing history.  After that, stop by the Union Pacific Railroad Depot and get a bite to eat.  Pay respects to our men and women at Francis E. Warren U.S. Air Force Base.  If the kids are getting bored, they have a brand new children's museum, that is very interactive.  One of the most fun things for the whole family is feeding bison at the Terry Bison Ranch.
