Forecasters with the National Weather Service office in Cheyenne are warning about possible snow accumulations this weekend in the higher elevations of southeast Wyoming, including the Interstate 80 summit between Cheyenne and Laramie.

The forecast is calling for rain Saturday, Sunday, and Monday below 7,000 feet. But between 7,000 and 10,000 feet the rain is expected to change to snow on Sunday, and the weather service is specifically saying travel difficulties over the summit are a very real possibility through Monday morning.

Above 10,000 feet up to six inches of snow is possible and forecasters are warning hikers at higher elevations to be prepared for winter conditions.
