Should Wyoming Be The Heart Of Darkness?
“Tourists heading to central Idaho will be in the dark if local officials get their way.”
There are 11 Dark Sky Reserves in the world, soon to be 12 if Idaho approves 1,400 square miles to be part of the International Dark Sky Reserve. Locals there are nearly unanimous in support of voluntarily reducing light pollution in order to be better able to see the magnificence of the Milky Way and our universe.
This Fall, they will file an application to designate a remote area of central Idaho light pollution free for the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve.
“An IDA International Dark Sky Reserve is a public or private land possessing an exceptional or distinguished quality of starry nights and nocturnal environment that is specifically protected for its scientific, natural, educational, cultural, heritage and/or public enjoyment.”
Idaho recognizes the many benefits of membership, would you want to see a large segment of Wyoming be a part of The Dark Sky Reserves?
