Red Rocks Amphitheater Earns Well Deserved Award
In the 30th Annual Pollstar Awards, Red Rocks Amphitheatre was named 'Best Outdoor Venue in the United States,' according to Our Community Now.
Red Rocks has been hosting legends like The Beatles, John Denver, The Blues Brothers, and even The Grateful Dead since 1906. With only a capacity of just under 10,000, it isn't easy getting a ticket to a show, but when you do you will remember it forever. The amphitheater is such a big attraction to fans because of the beautiful landscape and scenery that you get with every show. Singers love playing there because of the amazing natural acoustics the rocks bring.
Red Rocks Amphitheater is also up for 'Venue of the Year - Medium Capacity' by the Academy of Country Music. That will be announced on April 7th.
Fun Fact: In 1971, a riot broke out during a Jethro Tull concert. The only way police could break it up was with tear gas. After the riot occurred, the mayor of Denver at the time banned all Rock concerts from the amphitheater. Rock returned in the summer of 1976, and Jethro didn't play Red Rocks again until August of 2008.
