Miranda Lambert lands one of the most delicate performances of her career with unplugged "Tin Man" video.

The hit song, from her 2016 album The Weight of These Wings, gets a makeover here as she strips away the song’s bells and whistles for a somber portrayal in her latest music video.

Lambert is caught playing the guitar on her bathroom floor from just one camera angle, with less-than-polished production for the ultimate artisan feel. The music video is also in black and white and shuns big budget production for the eye of a smartphone. It’s the perfect effect to put the listener’s focus on Lambert’s wrenching lyrics:

“Hey there, Mr. Tin Man / You don't know how lucky you are / I’ve been on the road that you're on / It didn't get me very far / You ain't missing nothin’ / ’Cause love is so damn hard / Take it from me darlin’ / You don't want a heart”

The song, written by Lambert on her front porch with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall, is a minor homage to Kenny Chesney’s 1994 song “Tin Man,” but is more of a direct message to the fictional Tin Man character in the Wizard of Oz, who had no heart. This is evident with the song’s final lines: “By the way there, Mr. Tin Man / If you don't mind the scars / You give me your armor / And you can have my heart.”

Though a lyrical masterpiece, Lambert emotes heaviest while singing the simple “oh’s” after each chorus. She makes it so listeners can not only hear, but feel her pain. The song is rumored to be about her ex-husband, Blake Shelton.
