UPDATE 10 a.m. Interstate 80 is now closed in both directions between Cheyenne and Laramie. As of 9:30 a.m. the estimated opening time was 5-7 hours.

Parts of Interstate 80 in Wyoming are closed in one direction this morning [March 15] by a winter storm.

That's according to the Wyoming Department Of Transportation [WYDOT] road and travel conditions website.

While the storm is predicted to leave the state today, lingering icy roads and poor visibility are hampering travel conditions in many areas.

WYDOT reports that I-80 is closed eastbound from Rock Springs to Rawlins. It's also closed westbound from Cheyenne to Rawlins. As of 8 a.m., the estimated opening time for the closed areas was 6-8 hours.

Interstate 25 Is Open

While no areas of Interstate 25 were closed at the last report, there was a black ice warning for the stretch of that highway between Chugwater and Wheatland.
