Deputy Clocks Wanted Cheyenne Man Going 79 MPH in 55 MPH Zone
A wanted Cheyenne man is behind bars after a deputy with the Laramie County Sheriff's Office reportedly clocked him driving 24 mph over the speed limit.
According to a booking sheet, 46-year-old Manuel Ted Gurule was headed west on Terry Ranch Road around 8:07 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, when a deputy stopped him at the intersection of Terry Ranch Road and Elmwood Avenue for doing 79 mph in a 55-mph zone.
When the deputy ran Gurule's name, they discovered Gurule had two active warrants out of Laramie County.
The first was a misdemeanor warrant for failing to pay child support signed by District Court Judge Catherine R. Rogers on Feb. 8, 2022.
The second was a felony warrant for distributing marijuana to a person under 18 and child endangering signed by Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee on Dec. 13, 2019.
Gurule was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center on the warrants as well as misdemeanor charges of speeding, no liability insurance, and no valid driver's license.
Gurule made his initial appearance in Circuit Court Monday morning, during which his bonds in the 2019 case and the current case were set at $5,000 at 10% and $1,000 at 10%, respectively, and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Dec. 27 at 1:30 p.m.
