Domestic Disturbance Call Leads to Cheyenne Man’s Arrest
A 44-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars after a domestic disturbance call reportedly ended with him taking a police robot and officers breaking into his house.
According to a booking sheet, it all started around 1:51 a.m. Monday, March 4, after police responded to a domestic physical at Trinidad Serrano's home.
Police say Serrano's wife told them that she and her husband had gotten into a physical altercation and she told him she was taking their kids and leaving.
She said as she was leaving, she thought she heard a gunshot from inside.
Police say they made announcements from outside the house to have Serrano come to the door with his hands up and deployed a police robot, but Serrano closed and locked the door, and refused to speak with them.
'We Need Our Police Robot Back Before We Will Leave'
Police say Serrano told them to leave multiple times, saying nothing happened, but they told him they weren't leaving until they got their robot back.
They say Serrano refused to return the robot and began walking away from the door with it, so they forced entry into the house and took him to the ground.
Serrano was arrested and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center for misdemeanor interference with a peace officer - no injury, misdemeanor domestic battery, and felony theft, a crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.
He's scheduled to make his initial appearance before Laramie County Circuit Court Judge Antoinette Williams tomorrow, March 6, at 10:15 a.m.
