Cheyenne East has gotten off to a terrific start in 4A football this season and once again put their skills on display on Friday night as they dismantled Thunder Basin 52-7. The T-Birds rang up a remarkable 35 points in the first quarter and 17 more in the 2nd quarter. It was a very quick game with a running clock in the 2nd half and you don't see that very often in a match-up of previously unbeaten teams.

In that first quarter, East quarterback Cam Hayes threw touchdown passes to Renton Jensen and Nathan Mirich. Hayes for the game threw for over 300 yards and added za rushing touchdown to give East a 21-0 lead. Jenson added a TD and Drew Jackson caught a touchdown pass in that opening quarter. Jackson added 2 touchdowns on the ground in the 2nd quarter and for the night, caught 7 balls for 152 yards.

It was a tough night all the way around for Thunder Basin who did get a touchdown pass from Alonso Aguilar in the 3rd quarter. The Bolts are 2-1 on the year and will be back in Cheyenne on Friday to meet Central.

East has 3 big wins to start the season and the Thunderbirds and will visit Laramie on Friday night. We have a short video from that game at Okie Blanchard Stadium and some photos as well in our gallery below. Enjoy!
