Girlfriend Says “I Love You,” Guy Says “Ditto”

Love is a many splendid thing, as the song goes.  However the song can really hit a sour note when one person says, "I love you" and the response from the other is, "ditto!"

A gal who's been dating her boyfriend for almost a year, is confused with her relationship because she's developed feelings for him. She doesn't have any problem expressing her feelings of love for him, but every time she does, he responds with, "ditto." I'm sure he's referring to the 80s movie "Ghost" where Patrick Swayze responds with, "ditto" when Demi Moore says "I love you. Right?

Now, even though in the movie Patrick Swayze's character really did love Demi's character, this gal isn't sure if her boyfriend really does have feelings for her.

She doesn't know what to do, do you? What would you tell this gal to do?
