After Decline, Ft. Collins is Nearest Drive-In Theater
It was on this date in 1933 the very first drive in theater opened up. Soon after, they began opening up all over America. By the 1950's, they were in every town.
In the late 1980's, they began to close due to lack of popularity. It was due to advances made in picture and sound which drive inn theaters could not duplicate as well.
Now, drive in theaters can also have a better picture and sound can come from your own car's sound system.
There were two drive in theaters here in Cheyenne until the late 1980's.
Does that mean we in Cheyenne can not give our kids the drive in theater experience? Not if you head to Ft. Collins. The Holiday Twin Drive In is the only drive in in the area still open.
Check out their website to see what is playing.
