Cheyenne Weather Service: Golf Ball Size Hail Possible Today
The Cheyenne office of the National Weather Service is warning people about the possibility of severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and golf-ball size hail starting at about 3 p.m. Saturday.
Gerald Claycomb of the weather service issued the following statement early Saturday morning:
"Subtropical moisture moving into the area will interact with a stalled out cold front over southeast Wyoming today to create severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. A Slight Risk area for severe thunderstorms has been forecast for the Nebraska panhandle with a Marginal Risk for southeast Wyoming along and east of Interstate 25.
Storms continue tonight into Sunday for widespread heavy rainfall potential. Widespread rainfall amounts approaching 2 inches with locally higher amounts expected. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect this evening through Sunday for parts of the Nebraska Panhandle and southeast Wyoming, along with the Badger Creek burn scar."
