Cheyenne Watering Restrictions Go Into Effect Through September 1

The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities has announced that their annual summer watering restrictions are now in effect until September 1.

To help conserve water during the warmer months of the year, the Cheyenne BOPU has reinstated their annual summer water conservation measures. The restrictions are in force between May 1 and September 1.

Cheyenne residents cannot water more than three days per week. Residents are allowed to choose which days depending on their personal schedule and the weather. They ask that residents don't use sprinklers when it's raining.

Also, watering is not allowed between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. This is normally the hottest part of the day, so water from sprinklers is more likely to evaporate and not soak into the ground as much.

With everyone doing their part, the city of Cheyenne will be conserving water throughout the time temperatures rise the most.

Also in water-related news this week, the Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities continues it's flushing of fire hydrants across the Capitol City. During the week of May 4, they will be working on hydrants between Interstate 80 and Lions Park. The flushing may result in discolored water.
