The earliest player from Cheyenne to make it to the MLB was Jan Dukes. Jan was born August 16, 1945, and when he was 24 he got his shot to go to MLB. He was a pitcher for the Washington Senators and the Texas Rangers.
Born on December 16th, 1956, Rick Sofield broke into the MLB at 22-years-old in 1979. Sofield was an outfielder for the Minnesota Twins before he started coaching. His last coaching job was with the Pittsburgh Pirates as the third base coach from 2013 to 2016.
