Hundreds of students, parents, teachers and community leaders will gather at St. Mary's Catholic School in Cheyenne this Thursday to celebrate National School Choice Week.

Amy Threewitt, President of the Wyoming Chapter of PublicSchoolOptions.org, says the goal of the event is to celebrate great education choices in Wyoming and raise awareness among parents about school choice.

"I think the best part about this is just making parents and families aware of all the options that are available to them," said Threewitt. "We're very lucky in our community to have so many options."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort spotlighting effective education options for children, including traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online learning and homeschooling.

"Kids are all different and there are different needs that they have, so education can't be one-size-fits-all," said Threewitt. "We need to have different options for different families."
