“Breaking News” Overused.

So you are at home and one of those 24 hour news channels say" Breaking News." You think something major has happened so you stop what you are doing to listen.  You find  it is about a new report  or poll out, or an update of a previous story.

According to research the term "Breaking News" isn't what it used to be.  At least on cable television.   It is used too much and now when we hear it, we may listen to it or we may not.

Except on Cowboy Country.  I know in the past year, our news staff has only said "Breaking News" twice.   Those each were on the sad news of  local missing teenagers found dead.  I am proud of how our news team.  They do news the old fashioned way or  "old" style of news.  When you hear them say "Breaking News" you know it is something serious.
