In a statement released Thursday (June 2) organizers of the 2020 Wyoming Brewers Festival presented by Midas announced that they have decided to cancel this year's event.

"Our top priority is the well-being of our sponsors, volunteers, brewers and patrons. We have been closely monitoring the situation around Cheyenne and with the cancellation of many social gathering events, we feel this is the best decision for the future of BrewFest," organizers said.

The festival was originally planned for mid-June in the Cheyenne Depot Plaza. The event was then postponed until August 7-8.

Full Statement from the Wyoming Brewers Festival:
"Dear Wyoming Brewers Festival sponsors and Depot friends,

It is with great sorrow that we must announce the cancellation of the 2020 Wyoming Brewers Festival presented by Midas.

We are all eager to return to normal and really hoped that we would be able to pull this off, however in our current climate of Covid-19 we are not confident that can happen. The festival is a fundraiser for the Historic Union Pacific Depot that began in 1996 to provide a maintenance fund. It is an event that the community looks forward  to each year where attendees gather in a large group setting to enjoy live music and awesome brews. With the current situation, this does not seem possible.

Our top priority is the well-being of our sponsors, volunteers, brewers and patrons. We have been closely monitoring the situation around Cheyenne and with the cancellation of many social gathering events, we feel this is the best decision for the future of BrewFest.

Please accept our sincerest apologies.

The Wyoming Brewers Festival committee is working on some alternative, smaller events that we can potentially host throughout the year to continue to raise money. As you are aware, this event is the largest annual fundraiser for the Depot so it is a devastating financial loss.

For those sponsors who have already committed, would you consider donating your sponsorship dollars to the Depot for 2020?  Your logo will appear on WyoBrewFest.com as well as shout outs on social media when advertising any of the mini-events we plan.

Of course, if a donation is not in your budget, we will refund you in full and look forward to your sponsorship in 2021 when we celebrate our 25th!

Please just let me know either way.

Thank you so much for bearing with us as this situation has evolved throughout the year.  We look forward to celebrating, shaking hands, and drinking beer with you in 2021!

Sincerely,
The Wyoming Brewers Festival Committee"
