A 26-year-old Cheyenne man was arrested on Monday night in connection with an incident earlier in the evening in which he allegedly fired several shots at another car in downtown Cheyenne.

That's according to a Tuesday news release from the Cheyenne Police Department.

Police spokeswoman Alex Farkas says officers were originally sent to the area of 17th Street and Stinson Avenue on a report of shots being fired at around 5 p.m.

Officers found out that 26-year-old Micheal Langley of Cheyenne, who was riding in a Chevy Impala, had leaned out of the passenger window of that vehicle and fired several shots at a GMC Sierra as the two vehicles were following each other south on Stinson. The Impala then drove away on West Lincolnway.

No one was injured in the incident, but a third car that was not involved was hit by a bullet.

Farkas says the occupants of the Impala and the Sierra are thought to have been in a verbal altercation prior to the shots being fired.

Several hours later, at around 9 p.m., police got a tip that the Impala was parked near an apartment complex near the 400 block of Miller Lane. Police rushed to the scene and arrested Langley.

He was then booked into the Laramie County Jail on charges of aggravated assault without injury with a deadly weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, use of a firearm during a felony, destruction of property over $1,000, discharge of a firearm, and possession of marijuana.

The case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
