Yellowstone National Park officials are looking to the public for help in solving the killing one of three popular white wolves in the park, that had to be euthanized after it was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound on April 11.

While wolves generally have a life expectancy of six years, this one lasted 12. She was the alpha leader of “The Canyon Pack” near the northern border of the park.

“She was one of the most recognizable wolves and sought after by visitors to view and photograph,”

Some think the rifle shot may have come from a rancher or hunter who is angry over the reintroduction of the wolves 20 years ago.

The previous $5,000 reward is now $10,000, thanks to Wolves Of The Rockies, for information leading to the conviction of the killer. You can leave an anonymous tip at 888-653-0009, email nps_isb@nps.gov or leave information online at www.nps.gov/isb.
