Miranda Lambert fans in Newark, N.J., were in for a surprise on Thursday night (March 22): The country star brought the Oak Ridge Boys out onstage for a special performance of their hit "Elvira;" readers can press play above to watch.

Lambert and her band began a swing-y version of the Oak Ridge Boys classic before Lambert dropped the big surprise.

You know what would be even cooler?" Lambert asked the crowd at Newark's Prudential Center. "If the Oak Ridge Boys were here to sing this song with us!"

The audience cheered as the Oaks -- Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, Richard Sterban and William Lee Golden -- walked out from backstage and took over. Lambert added in her own harmonies during the song's chorus, and the fans -- well, they didn't need to be told to sing along.

Perhaps the Oak Ridge Boys' signature song, "Elvira" was released as a single in 1981. It became a No. 1 country hit in both the U.S. and Canada, and even reached No. 5 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100. The country quartet was in the Newark area on Thursday promoting their new album, 17th Avenue Revival, produced by Dave Cobb.

Lambert is currently on the road for her Livin' Like Hippies Tour, which closes on Saturday (March 24). This summer, she'll team up with Little Big Town for the co-headlining Bandwagon Tour. Lambert recently announced "Keeper of the Flame" as the next single from her 2016 album The Weight of These Wings.
