
Cheyenne Man Gets 10 Years For Drug Trafficking, Weapons Charges
A 52-year old Cheyenne man is facing a decade behind bars after pleading guilty this springs to drug trafficking and weapons charges.
That's according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for Wyoming. Cheyenne Police have also posted about the case on their Facebook page.

Leonard Raymond Riffel was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Alan B. Johnson on May 21 in Cheyenne. Johnson also ordered that Riffel serve four months of supervised release once his prison term ends.
According to the CPD post, police started investigating Riffel for suspected drug trafficking in September of 2025. They found out that he traveled to Colorado to buy methamphetamine and fentanyl to sell in Cheyenne.
Cheyenne Police Stop Car With Riffel As A Passenger
According to Cheyenne Police "On October 23, 2025, Cheyenne Police stopped a black SUV with Riffel seated in the rear passenger seat. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a black bag behind Riffel’s seat. The bag contained approximately 439 grams of methamphetamine, 10.5 grams of carfentanil pills (an ultra-potent synthetic form of fentanyl), a digital scale, and unused plastic baggies commonly associated with drug distribution. Riffel admitted the bag belonged to him and was arrested."
Police say a search warrant of the apartment were Riffel was staying turned up a Springfield .40 caliber pistol and a box of ammunition in his room. That was illegal because Riffel had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year of imprisonment.
The sentence was handed down on May 21. after Riffel pleaded guilty to being felon in possession of a firearm and the possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and carfentanil.
