New Tool Allows Citizens to View Crime Data in Laramie County
The Cheyenne Police Department and Laramie County Sheriff's Office have launched a new tool that allows citizens to view city and county crime data on an interactive map, the agencies announced Wednesday.
Called Citizen Connect, the online crime mapping tool allows users to search specific school districts, city council wards, and voting precincts, and filter incident data by dates and/or categories.
"(It) displays citizen calls for service and officer/deputy-initiated events, which do not always result in a police report," the agencies said in a joint media release.
"Data is refreshed every three days, allowing users to access more timely information about law enforcement activity," the agencies added.
Citizen Connect also allows users to view crime data while protecting victim privacy.
"Sensitive information such as addresses and names are not included," the agencies said. "Likewise, the system will not show sexual assaults or juvenile crimes."
