History of Theft Catches Up With Cheyenne Woman
A 26-year-old Cheyenne woman with a history of stealing things is facing a felony charge after allegedly shoplifting from Walmart.
According to a booking sheet, police arrested Aja Unique Johnson on East 5th Street at Campstool Road at 1:52 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29.

Felony Warrant
Police say Johnson had a warrant out of Laramie County Circuit Court for fifth or subsequent theft, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, up to a $10,000 fine, or both.
Police say the warrant was signed by Judge Antoinette Williams on Monday, Jan. 12.
Sticky Fingers
It's alleged that on Saturday, Jan. 3, Johnson stole less than $1,000 worth of merchandise from Walmart, and that she's been convicted of theft on at least four occasions, including Feb. 20, 2018; Feb. 4, 2020; Jan. 21, 2021; and May 9, 2022.
Johnson was taken to the Laramie County Detention Center, where she was booked on her warrant.
Initial Court Appearance
On Friday, Jan. 30, Johnson was seen in Circuit Court in front of Judge Sean C. Chambers on the charge.
Chambers appointed Johnson a public defender and set her preliminary hearing for Friday, Feb. 6, at 9:45 a.m.
Chambers then asked for the state's bond recommendation.
"The state does not currently have an NCIC, however, the state is aware that Ms. Johnson is currently on probation for forgery as well as she has a multitude of prior theft charges," it said.
"Considering this is a fifth or subsequent, given the nature of that charge and the clear inability to comply and not continue stealing, the state would recommend $5,000 cash," it added.
Bond Set at $5K Cash
"I'm going to set a $5,000 cash only bond," Chambers told Johnson. "If you're able to post that, I'll set conditions. Otherwise, we will next see you for your preliminary hearing."
Presumption of Innocence
Please remember that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
