A wrestler and a basketball player were selected as the second WyoPreps Athlete of the Week winners for the winter sports season. Sifting through the nominations, Kemmerer senior Kaylie Julander and Sheridan senior Nate Miner were chosen. Julander was undefeated on the wrestling mat and led her team to a tournament title. Miner led the top-ranked Broncs to a sweep of the Casper schools in two non-conference games in mid-December and reached a milestone in his prep basketball career. WyoPreps reviewed performances from the competition week of December 15 through December 20, 2025, and designated these two student-athletes. Previous weeks are not part of the decision. WyoPreps is catching up on this award since the author of this story was out of town for most of the previous two weeks.

Julander won the 140-145 championship at the Joe Aimone Girls Invitational in Kemmer on December 19 and 20, 2025. She won eight matches in the tournament, all of which were by pin. Six of those happened in the first period of her matches. The senior’s effort helped the Rangers win the team title with 200 points. Kaylie is 15-0 this season with 14 victories by fall and one tech fall.

WyoPreps caught up with Julander on Wednesday to reflect on her big weekend in her hometown. She was grateful for the honor, described how she wrestled, explained where her passion for the sport comes from, what it’s like to wrestle in Kemmerer, and more.

Miner has led Sheridan to a 7-1 start in the 2025-26 season. He averaged 18 points per game in the Broncs’ two victories over Natrona County (67-41) and at Kelly Walsh (62-50). Miner scored a game-high 28 points in the road win over the Trojans. In the process, he surpassed the 1,000-point milestone in his prep basketball career. Even though it’s not part of his selection, Miner also led Sheridan to a 3-0 record and the Cactus Division title at the Cactus Jam Tournament in Phoenix, AZ, between Christmas and New Year’s. For the season, Nate is averaging 18.8 points and five rebounds per game while shooting 46 percent from the field. That includes 43 percent beyond the arc, and he’s at 77 percent from the free-throw line.

WyoPreps spoke to Miner about the Casper weekend. He called those two quality wins for the Broncs, felt they had some nerves versus Natrona, overcame some slow starts, said he did whatever the team needed to get the victories, and more. We also discussed the Phoenix tourney showing by Sheridan, as well.

Congratulations to Kaylie and Nate on being chosen as the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week!
