Star Valley Extends Reign, Survives Cody Challenge for 3A Crown [VIDEOS, PHOTOS]

The Star Valley Braves made it four in a row just over two weeks ago with a victory in the Class 3A football state championship game in Laramie on November 14. The Braves beat rival Cody, 26-21. The game was tied at 14-14 at halftime before Star Valley opened a 26-14 lead. The Broncs scored late, but the Braves held on for the 16th state championship in school history.

Star Valley QB Phoenixx Hovey ran for two TDs and threw for two more. He finished with 32 yards rushing and 284 yards passing. The Braves rolled up 414 yards of total offense in the game. Wide receiver Roman Erickson had four catches for 130 yards and one touchdown. Travis Thomson caught the other TD pass. Erickson added seven tackles on defense with 1.5 tackles for loss. Dylan Hirschi added seven unassisted tackles, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. The Star Valley defense had seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and forced two Cody turnovers.

The Broncs finished with 317 yards of total offense. QB Cache McFadden ran for 134 yards. He was 13-29 passing for two scores. Trent Bower and Porter Rau made the TD catches, and Kannon Grant had the one rush TD. Defensively, Cinch Dalton made 10 tackles, including two tackles for loss. Jesse Hatch added nine tackles with one tackle for loss.
