LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowgirls look to bounce back Wednesday night as they return home to host New Mexico at 6:30. The Cowgirls’ four-game winning streak was snapped Saturday at Grand Canyon, 57-47.

ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Malene Pedersen was the only Cowgirl to score in double figures in Saturday’s loss as she recorded 20 points. It was the sixth 20-point outing of the season for Pedersen and the 15th of her career. Pedersen has now scored 10-plus points in 41 consecutive games and continues to have the fourth-longest active streak in Division I.

Heidur Karlsdottir had a strong game at GCU. The sophomore recorded a career-high nine points and tied her career-best with three blocked shots for the third time this season. Karlsdottir ranks second in the Mountain West in conference-only play averaging 1.42 blocks per game. Jane Rumpf leads the league in MW play with 1.5 blocks a contest. As a team, UW is second in the conference with 3.9 blocks per contest while in conference play, the Cowgirls are averaging a league-leading 4.5 blocks per.

Wyoming ranks third in the league averaging 13.8 assists per game and have assisted on just over 65-percent of its field goals this season. Four Cowgirls are averaging at least 2.1 assists per game and are led by Payton Muma’s 2.4 a contest. Henna Sandvik, who is second on the team in scoring (9.3) and rebounding (3.9), also ranks second on the squad with 2.38 assists per game. Pedersen leads the Cowgirls and the Mountain West averaging 16.9 points per game while shooting 45.5-percent from the floor and 36.7-percent from 3-point range. Pedersen’s 1.9 3-pointers made per contest are fourth-most in the league.

SCOUTING NEW MEXICO
New Mexico averages 69.5 points per game and is allowing just 61.1 a contest. The Lobos, who lead the Mountain West in rebounding with 40.2 a game, are plus-5.5 on the boards. UNM is shooting 41-percent from the floor and 32-percent from 3-point range. Lobo opponents shoot 39.1-percent overall and 30-percent from beyond-the-arc. New Mexico averages 12.9 assists per game and forces its opponents into 17.6 turnovers per contest. The Lobos average 10.5 steals per game and 2.8 blocks a contest.

Destinee Hooks leads UNM in scoring with 13.6 points per game and has a team-high 53 made free throws. Alyssa Hargrove leads New Mexico with 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Reigning Mountain West Freshman of the Week Laila Adburraqib leads UNM with 42 made 3-pointers and is shooting nearly 42-percent from beyond-the-arc. Cacia Antonio leads the team with 4.5 rebounds a game and is second on the squad scoring 10.1 points a contest.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST NEW MEXICO
New Mexico leads the all-time series 48-41 and won this season’s first meeting, 62-48 in Albuquerque. The Cowgirls won last season’s meeting in Laramie, 59-40 and are 27-15 in the series at home. The two teams have split the last four meetings inside the Arena-Auditorium. In seven career games against the Lobos, Pedersen is averaging 14.6 points per game while shooting an even 50-percent from the floor and 41.4-percent from beyond-the-arc.
