Cowboys Sign JUCO Defensive End With 23 Career Sacks
LARAMIE -- Oklahoma State offered.
So did Coastal Carolina, North Texas and New Mexico, among many others. Fellow Mountain West schools like Nevada and Utah State kicked the tires, too.
Esaia Bogar Sunday chose the University of Wyoming.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound edge rusher, who was named the National Southern Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 and a two-time First Team All-State selection during his tenure at Riverside City College, becomes the third transfer at the defensive end position to commit to Jay Sawvel this offseason, joining Dawan Martin (Youngstown State) and Brayden Wilson (Weber State).
Wyoming also inked prep ends Cade Brook (Aurora, Colo.) and Axel Ramazani (Des Moines, Iowa) on the NCAA's early signing day.
Jason Handy, an All-Austin Metro selection out of Vista Ridge High School (Texas), also announced on social media Sunday he will sign with the Cowboys in February.
Bogar, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, tallied 11 sacks last fall, three alone in a 62-10 road rout of Grossmont. He added another 1.5 in a blowout victory over No. 6 San Diego Mesa. The Modesto product also tacked on 48 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble during the Tigers' 12-game campaign.
He returned that loose ball against 21st-ranked Mt. San Jacinto for a touchdown.
As a freshman, Bogar got to the quarterback a dozen more times, including racking up four multi-sack performances. He also finished with 53 tackles and caused another fumble. Those numbers earned him preseason All-American honors.
Bogar, a three-star recruit and No. 22 ranked edge rusher on the market, per rivals.com, also received offers from Florida International, Incarnate Word, New Mexico State, Weber State and Sacramento State.

Wyoming has now signed 16 free agents this winter, 10 of which reside on the defensive side of the ball. Sawvel and Co. revamped a secondary and linebacking corps that was depleted due to graduation.
Edge rusher DeVonne Harris completed his eligibility in 2024. Braden Siders and Ethan Day both found new homes via the portal, landing at West Virginia and North Texas, respectively.
Sawvel, in an effort to ink roughly 42 newcomers this winter, is in search of a punter/ kicker combination and a back-up long snapper, along with an additional defensive tackle from the high school ranks, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Handy said Sunday he will also compete to be a long snapper with Carson York set to play his final collegiate season this fall.
Wyoming will also look to add a prep running back after Grayson Rigdon was released late last week from his national letter of intent.
Spring practice will get underway in Laramie on March 25.
