Hip-Hop, Classic Rock, and Beer Highlight Busy Cheyenne Weekend

There's a little something for everyone in Cheyenne this weekend, including performances from two legendary musical acts and grown men in lederhosen dancing to polka music.

Hip-hop pioneers the Sugarhill Gang will kick off the fun Friday night, headlining a free concert at the West Edge Collective on Lincolnway with Grandmaster Melle Mel, Scorpio, and local artists from the Funeral Fridays series. The all-ages show starts at 6 p.m. and will also feature local vendors, food trucks, and beverages.

The Downtown Cheyenne Oktoberfest celebration runs Saturday from Noon to 6 p.m. in the Depot Plaza. This year's event will feature craft beer, food, a strongman competition, a stein-hoising contest, prizes for the best Bavarian-themed costumes, and plenty of polka music.

On Sunday, classic rockers Kansas return to Cheyenne, performing their iconic album "Point of Know Return" in its entirety at the Civic Center. The concert marks the band's first performance in Cheyenne since they opened for REO Speedwagon at CFD in 2001. Tickets are available at CheyenneEvents.org.

The Cheyenne Historic Preservation Board is hosting their 7th annual "Tour The Legend" event on Saturday. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of woman's suffrage in Wyoming, this year's tour will include the Historic Governors' Mansion where the first female governor Nellie Tayloe Ross once lived, the former home of women's rights pioneer Esther Hobart Morris, and several other Cheyenne landmarks.

The annual Cheyenne Fall Fest craft fair will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. five miles east of the Archer Complex on 1461 Obsidian Road. The event will feature local vendors, food, and hayrides for children.

The Cheyenne Botanical Gardens celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Paul Smith Children's Village on Sunday, with a free event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
