Forecasters with the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service are predicting the North Platte River at Saratoga will reach flood stage by the end of this week.

And melting snow possibly combined with more rain could raise flooding concerns in some parts of the state in coming weeks.

The agency posted this statement on its website on Tuesday:

''The North Platte River at Saratoga remains high due to increased snowmelt over the past several days. Latest forecast shows the river reaching minor flood stage of 8.5 feet by Friday evening. Be advised, we're looking at increased chances for a rain on snow event from Thursday on, that could make the river flood earlier than forecast and at higher levels than what we're forecasting currently. Those planning to camp up in the Snowy and Sierra Madre Range campgrounds in the upcoming weeks, please stay weather aware, as a rain on snow event over the next week is not out of the question. Rivers and streams up in the Snowys and Sierra Madres are likely to stay elevated through the upcoming weeks as the snow melts off."
