Boxer Floored By Blood Sample

An Ohio-based boxer knocked out his opponent ... only to get floored by federal investigators who matched the blood he left in the ring to material left at a crime scene three years earlier.

Martin Tucker got his nose bloodied in the fight, and when his trainer discarded a swab with some of the fluid on it, an agent pocketed the thing – leading to a DNA test that fingered the light welterweight as the getaway driver in a 2009 bank robbery. The government alleges that Tucker wore a mask and had a handgun during the robbery, which netted about five grand.

His attorney acknowledged that the method of investigation was odd, but didn't object to the evidence, saying, "We leave our fingerprints, bits of hair and skin all over the place. If you're a boxer, sometimes you leave your blood around." (ESPN)

A Real Cat Burglar

Prison officials in Washington state had to deal with a different kind of cat burglar earlier this week – after a fully-grown bobcat decided to break into a Seattle-area jail.

The feisty critter was lurking around the perimeter of the facility when it was startled by a foot patrol and made a break – straight through the razor wire designed to keep prisoners from breaking out. The cat quickly scampered to the roof of the special offenders' unit where it was brought down by a tranquilizer dart and stitched up from the cuts it got during the reverse prison break. The plan is to release the creature back into the wild as soon as it's healed sufficiently.

A spokesperson for the state corrections department said that the security breach wasn't that big a deal, but admitted, "If we had an inmate the same size of a bobcat with the same level of dexterity, then we're concerned." (Associated Press)

Last Call

An Illinois woman was arrested for making a six-pack of 911 calls to complain that her boyfriend refused to provide her with a six-pack of beer.

Shannon White dialed the emergency number to report that her boyfriend thought she'd had enough to drink, and refused to give her another brewski. When that call didn't elicit a response from authorities, White tried again ... and again ... until cops finally did swing by her place – to bust her on charges of disorderly conduct and false use of 911. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

A wanna-be burglar in Georgia is in a ho-ho-hole lotta trouble after getting stuck when he went up the chimney without care during a heist.
